Yom Kippur – begins at sunset on 8 October and ends at sunset on 9 October 2019 This holiest day of the Jewish year is observed with fasting and repentance. Many Jews will refrain from work and attend synagogue services. Work is not permitted. Most Jews will cease work at around midday on 18 September
